Itzbeen Too Long!

December 4, 2008

itzbeen_green_largeWe have to be honest our first thoughts on the newItzbeen Baby Care Monitor was this is crazy, whats the world coming to when we need an instrument to help us care for our newest additions. however the more we thought about it and learnt about the monitor it really did not seem like a crazy idea after all.

They say it take a tribe to raise a child and lets face it we all know parenting isn’t a one person job. The immediate benefits we can see for this monitor is the continuity it offers the baby, parents know when babes next feed is due, they know when the baby last had a pooey nappy, one parent can walk out the door and the other parent, granny or a babysitter can easily pick up where the last person left off.

Its the ideal tool for both the breastfed or bottle fed bub, it will even tell you what side the baby last fed from! The Itzabeen baby care monitor is available in three different colours (pink, blue & green) is small, lightweight, has a belt clip for easy portability and in our new and informed opinion absolutely genius! and at $39.95 we think its a bargain.

Back on Our BPA Free High Horse!

October 28, 2008

Just when you thought we got of our soap box here we go again! If by now you have not heard about the BPA issue please read earlier in our blog or give it a google, generally its a good read and very informative.

After learning of the benefits of fab BPA Free Bottle Green to Grow, we went on a search for BPA free products for the toddler plus age group led us to possibley the most awesome products on the market today! Foogo and Funtainer two products bought to us from the iconic Thermos Brand. The ranges cover everything you could need in a transporatble food kind of way and look super smart and of course very hip!

As the whole concept is so new to us we thought we would give it a bit of a run on the hipsters. To say both the ranges have exceeded our expectations is an understatement!

The Pros: Food stays fresh as can be….. even 24 hours after its been cut up and placed in the food jars..yipee! the whole range is durable and really can handle being thrown around, all items are leak proof and they wash up a treat in the dishwasher, lastly everything stays cold.

Cons: We could only find one and its not a biggie but if little babes are straw drinkers as opposed to sippy cup drinkers the Foogo can be quite heavy and you will need to help out a little.

Beside that its an A+ for both the Foogo and Funtainer but get in quick as soon as we get stock it goes!

For Tots That Like To Lunch

July 30, 2008

For us in general, lunch boxes and the like go hand in hand with tacky! lets face it there are more character filled lunch boxes on the market than kids.

Needless to say we are madly in love with these very hip lunch totes from Room it Up with their generous sizing, insulated inner, front pockets and inner mesh pocket it has everything you need.

Not limited to just being used for kinder kids either, it makes a great lunch tote for babes solids and if you are crafty it will even fit a bib and a bottle.

P.S please excuse the small images on the site, we have bigger ones coming.

The Great Dinner Dilemma

July 25, 2008

We have a serious dilemma at hip headquarters, its all about the case of the missing cutlery! it seems to be a HUGE ongoing issue one days its there and the next its not.

As a result mum detective hat was put on and what do you think was found? the hipsters whilst attempting to be helpful were clearing their plates in to the bin every night and ditching their spoon and fork at the same time!

This issue was ongoing and bossy boots mum would have to stand  by the bin every night and remind the hipsters that cutlery (and veggies…ha ha) do not go in the bin…exhausting!

However a solution has been found, these fun and somewhat crazy new flop tops are the current faves and we assure you the hipsters would rather sleep with these than risk the possibility of them not being available for their next meal.  They are a breeze to clean and god love them they are also dishwasher safe…you have got to love that. Just for the record they also make a totally cool combo with French Bull plates & cups .

Not Just For Fun

July 18, 2008

It seem we are right into this BPA, chemical free thing at the moment and look at these.

No doubt about it, the brand spanking new Milk & Tickles Colour Change bottles are the grooviest things to hit baby feeding.  Not only are they heat sensitive and change colour to form very cool patterns, they are made from the safest of safe polypropylene and its BPA free which means its not only lots of fun its also the one of the safest feeding bottle on the market.

Not sure if the products you are currently using contain BPA or other harful chemicals? check out this very informative blog.

Why Plastics Not So Fantastic

June 15, 2008

Its hard to believe those of us born and raised prior to the 80’s are here to tell their stories. After all car seats didn’t exist, breasts were for something other than feeding babies and sausages really were made from lips and well you know the rest ;-)

Thank goodness we have evolved somewhat and have learnt through experience to make changes for the better.

There has been lots of talk about BPA free and we have to admit it was something us folk at The hip Infant was blissfully unaware of…well that was until we did a bit of research that well and truly opened our eyes. We also must admit there was a little guilt involved as our very own little hipsters have at some stage in their young lives sipped, sucked or slurped from some offending plastics.

So whats it all about? in a nutshell “In February 2007, the public advocacy group Environment California Research & Policy Center published a report titled Toxic Baby Bottles: Scientific Study Finds Leaching Chemicals in Clear Plastic Baby Bottles. The report describes the harmful effects of the hormone-disrupting chemical bisphenol A (BPA), a developmental, reproductive, and neural toxicant found in polycarbonate plastic—the material used to make the vast majority of baby bottles.” (www.greentogrow.com/bisphenol.aspx)

The results to this study were referred to as controversial, it resulted in huge lawsuits in the USA and even saw the removal of a very well known and used brand, being banned and removed from store shelves in Canada.

There are those that suggest even if there is a hint of truth to this study and all the associated findings why would you bother risking it when there are so many BPA Free feeding products available. We shall let you make up your own mind, meantime have a look here for some light reading.

Now you may have noticed our gorgeous and of course BPA Free, range of feeding bottles. Green to Grow comes in both regular and wide neck. Each style and size has its own unique print on the front, is dishwasher safe (on the top shelf) and teats can be purchased separately in varying flows ……and most importantly there will be no doubts in your mind about harmful leaching chemicals.
